Microneedling with Hyaluronic acid

What is Microneedling with Hyaluronic acid?

Microneedling is all the rage in skin care and for good reason. The process involves rolling a wand or pen affixed with mini-needles to create tiny wounds. These wounds are miniscule and only skin-deep, but your body responds with alarm, sending in healing factors that boost skin strength, radiance, and health. Microneedling makes your skin glow after just one treatment and continues to boost the appearance of your complexion for months afterward. The benefits of microneedling are many!

What are the Benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling may help with issues like:

  • Acne
  • Hair loss (also called alopecia)
  • Dark spots or patches on your skin (hyperpigmentation)
  • Large pores
  • Reduced skin elasticity
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

SkinPen is the only FDA cleared microneedling device for all skin types and tones.

What Happens When You Get Microneedling?

The procedure itself usually takes 15-20 minutes, depending on how big of an area is being treated. A minimum of 3 consecutive treatments is typically recommended, but more may be required to achieve desired results.

First, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the skin for patient comfort. Patient’s typically numb for 20 minutes or so. Next, your provider will apply PepFactor Hyaluronic acid to the skin to be needled in and your provider will essentially color in the skin with a pen-like device until desire erythema (redness) is achieved – typically 3 passes. Pinpoint bleeding may occur and is completely expected. Once the procedure is complete, a layer of Neocutis Aftercare will be applied to the skin to create a barrier. You will apply this as often as needed during your social healing time – 3-7 days. Epicutis Recovery Kits and/or masks are recommended and available for purchase to ensure proper healing. The goal of the procedure is to create controlled micro injuries to jumpstart your body’s natural healing process. When the body is injured, collagen and elastin are alerted to flee to the site to assist in healing. Microneedling does just that!

Most people get microneedling on the face, but it can also be done on other parts of the body, such as your stomach or thighs.

HYALURONIC ACID VS PRP?

Microneedling with HA is done by an esthetician at SkinSavvy. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture to the skin and plumps. If you think of your skin like a sponge, hyaluronic acid is the water that makes the sponge expand. This will minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.

Microneedling with PRP is performed by an injector at SkinSavvy. Using PRP isolates your own growth factors within your own blood’s plasma, which are then micro needled into your skin which stimulates collagen production, generating new younger tissue. This will minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.
